The Perfect Derma™ Peel
Peel for a week. Glow for months. The Perfect Derma Peel™ is one of the fastest ways to upgrade dull, tired skin.
What Is The Perfect Derma™ Peel
The Perfect Derma™ Peel is a medium-depth chemical peel formulated with trichloroacetic acid (TCA), salicylic acid, kojic acid, phenol, retinoic acid, vitamin C, and glutathione — the master antioxidant — to resurface the epidermis and superficial dermis in a single application, treating melasma, hyperpigmentation, photoaging, acne scarring, fine lines, and dull tone across all Fitzpatrick skin types I–VI.
The treatment includes a powerful blend of acids, antioxidants, and glutathione—the body's master antioxidant—to help brighten discoloration and create a more even complexion. Expect about 5–7 days of peeling, followed by smoother, clearer, more radiant skin that continues to improve in the weeks ahead.
Think of The Perfect Derma Peel™ as a reset button for your skin. It's one of our favorite treatments for acne, pigmentation, sun damage, and overall skin refresh!
How The Perfect Derma™ Peel Works at Maintenance Bar
Step 1 — Skin Assessment
We examine your skin type, Fitzpatrick classification, current actives, sun exposure, and recent treatments. Retinoids, recent waxing, and isotretinoin within the last six months affect candidacy and timing.
Step 2 — Cleanse and Degrease
The treatment area is cleansed and degreased so the peel solution penetrates uniformly.
Step 3 — Peel Application
Afterwards you'll have a bronzy appearance to your skin (like a bad spray tan). We want you to keep the peel on at minimum 6 hours before washing it off.
Step 4 — Take-Home Kit and Peeling Window
We will send you home with a post peel kit to use throughout the week that you're peeling. Peeling begins around day 2-3 and continues for 5-7 days. Resist the urge to pick at the shedding.
What to Expect from The Perfect Derma™ Peel at Maintenance Bar
Day 1 (Treatment Day): Your peel is applied in the clinic and left on for at minimum 6 hours. Your skin will have a bronzed appearance and may feel a little tingly and tight.
Day 2: Skin often feels dry, tight, and a bit rough. Some patients notice mild redness or a bronzed appearance. You may start wondering if you're even going to peel.
Day 3: Peeling typically begins around the mouth, chin, and nose. The skin may feel itchy or tight. Resist the urge to pick or pull at peeling skin.
Day 4: This is usually peak peeling day. Larger sheets of skin may shed around the mouth, cheeks, and forehead. Your skin may look flaky and uneven—this is completely normal.
Day 5: Peeling continues but often starts slowing down. Fresh, brighter skin is becoming visible underneath. Most patients are through the worst of the peeling by this point.
Day 6: Residual flaking remains, usually around the hairline, nose, and jawline. Skin looks noticeably brighter, smoother, and more refreshed.
Day 7: Most visible peeling is complete. Your skin may still feel slightly dry, but makeup generally applies much more smoothly and your complexion looks clearer and more radiant.
Weeks 2–4: This is when the real magic happens. Cellular turnover continues, pigmentation begins fading, breakouts improve, and skin tone and texture become more even. Results continue to develop long after the peeling has stopped.
A single peel produces visible improvement. Maintenance Bar typically recommends a series of 2–4 peels spaced 4–6 weeks apart for melasma, deeper hyperpigmentation, or moderate acne scarring — followed by an annual maintenance peel.
Seattle's gloomy weather has one upside: peel season. Less UV exposure means a safer recovery and better protection for your fresh, post-peel skin. The best time to do a chemical peel is between October and April.
Who Benefits from The Perfect Derma™ Peel at Maintenance Bar
The Perfect Derma™ Peel suits patients who've outgrown surface-level peels and need a real reset. Most people booking this treatment are dealing with:
- "My melasma comes back no matter what I do"
- "I have sun damage and dark spots that won't fade"
- "My skin looks dull and my texture feels rough"
- "I have acne scars or post-acne pigmentation"
- "I want fine lines softened without lasers"
- "I've done glycolic facials and need something that actually works"
Because of the glutathione formulation, this peel is appropriate for Fitzpatrick I–VI — including patients who've been told they can't safely do medium-depth peels elsewhere.
Patients on isotretinoin (within 6 months), with active cold sores in the treatment zone, recent laser resurfacing, or a known allergy to aspirin or any peel ingredient should delay treatment. Pregnant or nursing patients are not candidates. Maintenance Bar screens every Perfect Derma™ Peel candidate before treating.
For deeper textural concerns or significant laxity, Maintenance Bar might recommend more intense laser treatments or Sofwave rather than relying on the peel alone.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is The Perfect Derma™ Peel different from a regular chemical peel?
Most chemical peels are either superficial glycolic/salicylic peels (minimal downtime, minimal results) or aggressive TCA peels that risk hyperpigmentation in darker skin. The Perfect Derma™ Peel sits in the medium-depth range with glutathione protection — which is what allows Maintenance Bar to safely treat melasma and Fitzpatrick IV–VI patients.
Does The Perfect Derma™ Peel hurt?
The application stings and warms for the 5–7 minutes the peel is on the skin — most patients describe it as tolerable, not painful. The first 24 hours can feel tight and warm. Actual peeling on days 2–6 is itchy more than painful.
How many peels do I need?
One peel produces visible improvement for most patients. Maintenance Bar recommends a series of 2–4 spaced 4–6 weeks apart for melasma, deeper hyperpigmentation, or moderate acne scarring — then annual maintenance.
Can I combine The Perfect Derma™ Peel with other treatments?
Our favorite treatment to pair The Perfect Derma Peel™ with is Botox, Dysport, or Jeuveau. Think fresh, smooth skin in 1 week!
Is The Perfect Derma™ Peel safe for darker skin tones?
Yes — that's the whole point of the glutathione formulation. Glutathione inhibits tyrosinase activity, which is the enzyme responsible for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Maintenance Bar treats Fitzpatrick I–VI with this peel, including patients with melasma who've been told to avoid medium-depth peels altogether.
Will I look bad at work?
Days 3–5 are usually when the peeling is at its peak. Want to spend your weekend looking a little questionable instead of your workweek? Schedule your peel on a Wednesday or Thursday so the bulk of the peeling happens over the weekend.
